A miraculously positive attitude

Spring Fever has come over me and so up went the bird feeders and out went the order for two cherry trees, two pawpaws and two grapevines.  I'm planting like I don't have cancer and like I'm going to be around for years to enjoy the fruit.  Ha!

A change of opinion

There is a song by Dashboard Confessional that I really used to like... the tune, not so much the words.  It goes, "Her hair is everywhere..."

Yeh, now, my very shortly shaved hair is everywhere, which makes me think of the song, which makes me associate it with the Big C, which makes me hate it now.

Dreadlocks!

So...

Several months ago, Sophie and I decided that we were done braiding her hair.  I cut it almost all off. Since then, she's been wearing a short 'fro; however, taking care of it is a challenge for her.

This whole time, I've been thinking about putting in dreadlocks.  Obviously I won't pay the crazy amount of money to have them done professionally, so I've been watching videos and reading everything I could find about doing it myself.  But I just couldn't start.  I'm so scared to do something wrong.  Silly, I know.  I mean, if I really mess up, we'll just cut them off and rock the short 'fro again.

Yesterday, a dear friend thoroughly cleaned and conditioned Sophie's hair and... I started to form the locks.

The cure

My dearest Indian friends are trying to cure me with food.
My oldest son definitely thinks that the humidifier is going to heal me.
My sweetest friend is saving me with service.
Meanwhile, my good ol' doctor is helping me with poison.
And the rest are praying.

Well, well, well...

Where have we been?  The short answer is "on the East Side," which took a great deal of energy and time, "and in the bathroom."  Ha!  Yes, I'm just going to leave it at that.

This has been such an important time for our family and I've failed miserably to document it.  I mean, the French came and went,

the Japanese arrived, Rob went to Belgium,

the birthdays have gone on, the children have made snowmen, snow forts and gone sledding at every snow...

The Colombians came,

and we've been to the Domes, thanks to our generous neighbor.

There has been a scratched cornea ("Whoa, that's big!"),

and on and on.

Well, and now there's the Big C again, all up in my liver and spine.  So now, most of my time is spent at the hospital or in bed, whence I write this post, thanks to my generous family who updated my technology to match my condition.
